wendesday.

Do you ever have those moments that just stop you in your tracks.

I walked out of my house the other day, looked up, and saw this

It literally stopped me and put a smile on my face. Of course the picture doesn’t do it justice because it was easier to whip out my cell phone than my camera.

Happy Wednesday!

My new Pioneer Woman cook book!!

I haven’t actually made anything out of it yet, but I’m REALLY excited too!

My pineapple slicer!

The pineapples are perfectly ripe this time of year, and this thing saves me soooo much time and is sooo much less of a mess than cutting with a knife. It is a LIFESAVER!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my laundry’s best friend. I’ve had it for awhile and can’t believe I forgot to give it a RAVE review!

I really couldn’t tell you how I lived life before this thing. It heats up in 60 seconds and get wrinkles out of almost anything! {jeans are the exception}

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This little app is a new toy of mine. I’ve put on a few more “summer lb’s” than I’d like to so I’m trying to be better about what I’m eating. If you have a 3GS or above, this program lets you scan the bar code of food and it inputs all of the information for you {sorry all 3g-er’s it doesn’t scan for us…}. It also rates what food you enter on a 1-5 scale of how good it is for you.

It really is awesome. Best application for this purpose I’ve used so far!

You can also do it online at My Net Diary

My lovely grill.

 char_broil_commercial_series_gas_grill

It’s been without a gas tank for over a year, but I finally refilled it and have put it to GREAT use since! There’s nothing that screams summer ad football season more than grilling out!

If you have any yummy grilling recipes send them my way!

ww.

good weekend….good good weekend

I started the weekend early with Happy Hour drinks with a good friend I used to work with, we can always talk for hours!

Then I headed to Danae’s to set up for the garage sale and make a trip to Lowe’s. She’s building these shelves from Young House Love and Knock Off Wood. If I could ever convince her to create a blog she’d show you the before and after; however being a 3rd year law student and then an associate at a big law firm in the city, I don’t think I’ll ever win that conversation! So instead maybe I’ll put up a picture when she’s done!

SATURDAY we garage saled it all day! It was a surprisingly good day.photo4

{back story: Growing up my nick name has always been “e” {clever I know}. About 8 years ago when initials started becoming popular, I started collecting E’s. Since that time I have either received or bought over 50 E’s…yes I counted. About 25 of them had been sitting in a box in my closet for the past 4 years. I finally decided to get rid of them.}

I put them in the garage sale and they were gone by 1:00pm. I had NO idea they would sell like that! There was only one left and honestly I don’t blame anyone for not buying it {it’s on its way to Good Will as I type!}

Anyways. I made some great unexpected money and had a great time chilling with D and people watching!

SATURDAY NIGHT Julia finally made it back to the states for good! And what better way to celebrate than with drinks at The Mont & Louie’s!

SUNDAY I went to Lowe’s with Julia to pick out veggies and herbs for her new garden! We searched all over town for those darn seed packets and along the way stopped at the cutest plant shop in Norman called The Greenhouse. Such great plants and accessories for your yard! Except we came across this…

Sharks in Film: Fact or Fiction

shark week 2.

I haven’t gotten to watch the new episodes from last night yet, but come 5 o’clock, you know where I’ll be!

just some fun little facts….

  • Of the average 30 to 50 shark attacks reported each year, only 5 to 10 prove to be fatal. So while being bitten by a shark is rare, untitled2dying from a shark bite is even rarer.
  • As sensational as shark attacks are in newspaper headlines, the reality is that you're more likely to be bitten by another person than a shark.
  • A few of the known shark species will drown if they stop moving.
  • Although it's heavily fictionalized, the film Jaws was based on a real incident in 1916, in which four people were killed by a shark off the New Jersey coastline.
  • A common myth is that sharks don't attack in the middle of the day. And that may be true — but it's likely because most beachgoers get out of the water to rest or eat at lunchtime, so there aren't as many people around to cross paths with sharks. Sharks don't follow the same three meals-a-day eating schedule as humans, they eat when they find food, no matter what time it is.sharknotize
  • Headed to shark-filled waters? Pack your boxing gloves. Punching a shark in the nose or poking its eyes can help to fend it off during an attack. Aim for the sensitive eyes or gills — or, if your aim is off, the much bigger target of the snout. Most sharks don't want to work that hard for their food and will swim away.
  • Great white sharks eat 11 tons of food a year! Compare that to a human being: Each of us eats closer to half a ton of food every year.
  • What's older than sharks? Almost nothing. Sharks have been swimming in the ocean for more than 400 million years. They predate practically everything that has a spine, including humans and dinosaurs

sharks! oh my.

OMG SHARK WEEK IS HERE!

I almost never watch The Discovery Channel, but this themed week just consumes me!

I have quite the odd fascination/fear with Sharks. Prior to any vacation on the beach I always have this fear of getting bitten by a shark, but once I’m at the beach and in the water, the thought of sharks never even crosses my mind.

I think that’s why these shows entertain me; I’m intrigued by the sharks and learn a lot of survival skills.

Most of this week will be filled with reruns during the day, but once the clock strikes prime-time, we are in business!
