once in a lifetime.

I kind of had 2 once in a lifetime moments in the last 2 weeks.

2 weekends ago I went to Arlette's Wedding. It was seriously one of the most amazing weddings I've been to and I will probably never go to another one like it again. just crazy.

Beautiful Bride....even after hours of dancing and drinking

The Guest Book Table

One of the food tables {I believe the Mediterranean food}

One of the like 17 different centerpieces

This ice sculpture served us glasses of champagne as we walked in the door

This was over the dance floor

This woman looked EXACTLY like Kim G from RHONJ

The band was from Nashville and they were AMAZING

Her now husband is from Greece {so is her Mother too}, so there were tons of people who came to the States for the wedding. They did a great job of blending his background and hers too. There was Greek music, Greek dancing, and even Greek food! It was awesome!

I had so much fun and met so many wonderful people that night! What a great experience!

------------------

This weekend was also fabulous.

FRIDAY
I found out that I was going to the World Series Game 4 on Sunday Night!

I also went to a Halloween party. I was "Devil with a Blue Dress On" by Mitch Ryder.
{excuse the retarded face I'm making}

I like the idea, but I'm not sure everyone at the party got it.
I finished the night at a local dive bar for "Scary-oke" and then to Fuzy's to cap off the night with a Fuzzy-navel. {mmmm}

------------------------

SATURDAY was game day. It didn't start till 8pm, which was crazy! Since I was leaving at 6 to head to Dallas, I was able to get in a few hours of tailgating!

GDO #4
{It was a simple outfit this weekend as I was totally unprepared for the 80 degree weather}

I'm glad added another W to the record....

oh...and did you see the Texas Baylor game?  {ouch!}

SUNDAY could have been one of the best days I've had in a VERY VERY LONG time!

My morning started at

I was so proud of myself and used great restraint in what I purchased.
• Euro Pillows for my bed
• Closet organizers for my scarves and tank tops
• Some new serving bowls and plates!

After Ikea, we headed to the Allen Premier Outlet Shops.... {by far the best outlet shops I have ever been to}
This maybe wasn't a great idea. I could have spent a whole month's worth of paychecks in just 2 short hours. But once again I used great restraint {if you call buying a Coach purse restraint} and only came away with this.

isn't she beautiful?

Our final stop before the big game was HomeGoods. I read about this store ALL over other blogs so I was super excited to go!
The doors opened and I was in awe. Serious awe.
It was as great as I imagine!

I only walked away with a cooling rack {for all that baking I do...ha}, but lets just say if money and the size of our car weren't obstacles, most of the store would have come home with me =)

on to the most important part of the day....

WORLD SERIES GAME 4

My dad lucked into tickets from work. I'm not the biggest baseball fan, but I knew this was a once in a lifetime experience and I couldn't pass it up {even if it meant missing some tailgating and the first quarter of the OU game}.

We sat on the 2nd to last row in the ballpark. It might have been breezy, but we had one awesome view of the whole place.

We waited in like for 40 minutes for some memorabilia {none of which was even for me}, ate tons of baseball food {peanuts, hot dogs, and pretzels}, and I might have indulged in a few Sunday night beers! {I was on vacation!}

We watched the former President Bushs' throw out the first pitch to my 2nd favorite Texas Ranger, Nolan Ryan {Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez is my first...I LOVED baseball in my younger years}

Sadly we weren't the best of luck for the Rangers...3 hits during a game isn't going to get you the W 9 out of 10 times. But the fans were there till the last second!

I'm so glad I got to experience this with my family. It was an unexpected check off the bucket list!

I'm spending the rest of my 4 day weekend {thank you Election Day and the World Series} catching up on household duties...blah!

choices choices choices.

I went on a mission yesterday.

A search for fabric!

Here's what I found....

SDC11978

You're probably thinking WOOW.

So here's the breakdown.

I want a white/off-white headboard followed by the goldish Euro Pillows.

I believe #6 is going to become my headboard. I only worry because it is a linen texture and I'm not sure how that will hold up. I need to do more research....

Here's where you come in..... {all 3 of you reading}

What's your pick for the Pillows?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I randomly watched a movie on Comedy Central this weekend and saw that South Park’s new episode was about New Jersey.

Since I’m a fan of RHONJ and Jersey Shore, I of course recorded it and watched at lunch today….

OMG. Cracked my shit up! Hilarious. I don’t know what these guys are on when they write South Park, but it’s brilliant!

The last line of the show had me laughing out loud!

Watch the full episode here

wa-la.

SDC11976

Yay! I've finished my new bed! {for now at least}

After 3 days of searching, multiple trips to MULTIPLE stores, I finally found sheets I could live with {thanks Target}!

They are an aqua/light turquoise and white print

SDC11977 {insert oooooooos..... & ahhhhhhhhhs......}

What's next for the budoir?

    • Making an upholstered headboard {inspiration}
    • Hopefully tufting that headboard
    • Some goldish/yellowish Euro Pillows to the back
    • Getting New Pillows to lay my head on each night!
    • Print Pillow Shams
    • A Quilt {It’s too hot in the summers for a down comforter!}
    • Hopefully all by Christmas!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I lived thru my first earthquake today! The epicenter was 6 miles east of campus {basically the center of Norman}, however this morning I was in the OKC at the Federal Courthouse. I felt the room shake and questioned for a second what it was. Earthquake? Did a building blow up?

Seconds later my texts started rattling, “are you ok?”, “did you feel that?”, of course I turned to Facebook for news…

4.5 Magnitude {In the last few minutes they’re reporting 5.1}! It was felt from Norman all the way to Tulsa! {122.85 miles}

I got back to work and the girls said the whole building shook like crazy and pictures were rattling almost off the wall! {I’m kind of sad I wasn’t at the office for it!}

I’m sure it’ll be all over the news when I go home for lunch, hopefully no one was hurt!

design ditties.

There’s a few design ditties {yes, that’s my new name for them} I’ve been eyeing this week.
Reichel at Copy Cat Chic posted this ‘word rug’
BDrug1 It’s super girly, but I just love the feeling of it! Head over to her blog to see her cheaper find!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have completely fallen in love with this grasscloth wallpaper.

Actually this whole room!
Janell @ Isabella and Max has done a fantastic redecorating her house. I love her Style!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stripes are just an easy and inexpensive way to add something to a room. If I was having a baby, this design would SERIOUSLY be in the run!

Michelle at Second Street East has such great taste!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am L-O-V-ing this canvas! I think I might do this in my living room…

Question is….what do I write?
Thank you High-Heeled Foot in the Door for this inspiration!

on second thought.

D is having a garage sale in a few weeks and asked me if I had anything to contribute. I try to lead a “non-packrat” lifestyle, but as I’ve been thinking more about it, I’ve got a few items to throw in the pile.

I was browsing the Real Simple website today and came across this article, “Decorate on the Cheap with Everyday Items”. Here’s a few of the ideas I liked.

When entertaining, serve cocktails on an old picture frame. {You could even change the picture to match whatever party you’re throwing}

Glass-Frame_300

If you could find the perfect pattern, dish towels as placemats are a cheap alternative.

solutions-table_300

If you are like me and have ZERO storage in your bathroom, this is a modern way to store the TP. {Keeps guests from searching your cabinets when the roll runs out}

0510-vase-toilet_300

Love this idea! What a great way to add color and different textures to your room. According to David Bromstad your furniture should never be all the same finish; mixing metals with wood or glass or painted furniture makes your home feel lived in….right D?

These ideas are making me have second thoughts about what I put in the garage sale!

lighting it up.

So I’ve bought 2 sets of lamps in the last 2 days and I just can’t decide which pair I like better…or it may be that I just need one.

So that’s where you come in.

I need your help.

Please excuse my terrible pictures and messy living room.

ikea.

Lately a trip to IKEA has been a topic of conversation with many of my friends.
My lunch conversation with emily made me crave a little online browsing.
We though to ourselves, perfect…we’ll bring a truck…and then realized maybe that’s not such a good idea. It might be a little too enticing to bring home more than what we really need…..
Here’s some of my browsing picks….
image
How beautiful is this nightstand?!

image
I could totally use a few packages of these and for $9.99, how can you beat that?!

image
2 of these on my sofa table would be GORGEOUS!

image
I’ve been needing some new dinnerware. My current plates are from IKEA and I love them….but a tile floor and a clumsy person don’t mix well.

If you haven’t been to IKEA I highly suggest you go. You’ll be in a world of amazement. Their website doesn’t even do it justice! If only they had online shopping…..
actually….that’d probably be REALLY dangerous!

and you get

movin right along.

(I FORGOT TO POST THIS ON MONDAY)

After a VERY busy week, motivation set in this weekend and I completed my last set of curtains and putting together a new bookshelf.

Besides my chair project (pictures and process to come), only minor things are left in the redecorating mission. It felt so good to cross so much off my list yesterday! (yes, I have a list of things I want to do to the house posted on my refrigerator!)

For those of you who are interested....which is probably very few, here's the list:
• Reorganize all shelving in the house with knick-knacks and pictures
• Make a table runner for kitchen table and purchase candles for the top of it
• Purchse new lamps for sofa table and new lamp shade for standing lamp
• Find worthy tie backs for living room curtains
• Make new canvas paintings for living room
• Finish chairs and find in-table for them if needed
• Touch up all walls in house with new paint
• Get new sheets, new pillows, and new decorative pillow coverings for bed (I'm determined to make my bed every day when I get these)
• Paint bedroom and bathroom
• Get new organizing gadgets for bedroom/closet (shoe holder, new hanging rods, etc.)
• Find a curtain solution for the kitchen

My goal is to have it done by the end of summer. That's PLENTY of time in my book!

I'm SO incredibly happy with how everything is turning out! It is starting to feel like a home and not a college apartment!

*OPINIONS NEEDED*
I'm at a loss on how/where to store my exercise equipment.
I have a big exercise ball
and a Leg Magic machine. (for those of you wondering, it's one of the hardest workouts I've EVER done!)

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated =)

January 27, 2010

hodge podge.

I’ve got a compilation of things to tell you today….where to begin?

FIRST

This weekend I finished my dining room tasks. I don’t have any before pictures, but lucky for you I have the after!

I added another bookshelf and the curtains. I feel like it has turned out like I wanted to, and I can’t wait to finish the table decor!

SECOND

Did the Bachelor get new producers this year? I feel like the show has never been more dramatic than this season. Or maybe it’s just Jake, maybe he’s ĂĽber dramatic. FIRST the rose in the fire SECOND crying again in the show and THIRD asking to send 2 girls home instead of 1? I mean seriously.
Speaking of the THIRD topic. I was watching Bonnie Hunt (does anyone else watch her? hilarious.) and she brought up the scene where Jake asks Chris to send an extra girl home…it sounds as though they are both *taking a tinkle* while talking to each other. I never noticed it the first time around, but when they played it back it was quite obvious. Jake about died from embarrassment as she made jokes about it. I was in hysterics listening to her banter.image
Why did I not know who this girl even was until 45 minutes into the 3rd episode? No wonder she went home. and what they heck kind of pants is she wearing in this photo? Definitely not his type! And I wasn’t surprised he sent home Kathryn. She should have seen it coming, they had absolutely NOTHING to talk about on their one-on-one time.

THIRD

Apparently we have a huge ICE storm headed our way. Surprise Surprise. Today its 60° and tomorrow it’s going to ice. Thank you Oklahoma! Anyways, I had to think strategically in what I bought at the store today on my lunch break. Almost everything I buy on a regular basis has to be heated or refrigerated in some way to eat it. So I purchased the following:
  • Bananas
  • Pre-made rolls
  • Saltines
I already have protein bars, Doritos, and peanut butter. Real healthy diet I have coming in the next few days.
I’ll more than likely purchase some ice tonight. I happen to have a large cooler and it might be just the place to keep my milk cold for a couple of days!
The hard part about living alone during an ice storm, especially if the electricity decides to disappear, is what to do to keep yourself entertained. I haven’t purchased any books in awhile so I might be making a stop to Target on my way home from the gym. Any reading suggestions?
How bout you? What do you do to get yourself ready for a potentially epic ice storm?

January 23, 2010

progress.

I'm finally making some head way on the house! Last night I completed the curtains in the living room!
Before

After

All that's left is to find some tie backs I fall in love with!

Also, I've had these picture frames in my dinning room that have been empty for 3 years. yes...you read that correctly. Empty. on the wall. for 3 years.

Think its about time for me to fill them?!
Well, thanks to the 'how to' page on one of my favorite blogs Young House Love, I found my new artwork!
Since I wasn't really thrilled to use my first and last initial, I just found a couple quotes that I liked.
Here's the finished project!

The quotes say "Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies" and "Nothing is more important than reconnecting with your bliss"

My parents are coming today to help with some more redecorating! YAY! More pics to come.

stay tuned.....
